About Al Smith:
My physical therapy journey started on the patient side with seven sports related surgeries spanning a baseball career through Westside High School and with the Huskers at the University of Nebraska. Ultimately, the accumulated injuries became too difficult to overcome ending my career. Being injured so long had unexpected challenges that extended well beyond the physical injury. I developed a very real appreciation being physically injured can have on your psyche, career, and even the people around you. It’s given me the drive to understand the story behind the patient. The things they care about, their challenges, and their support system all play a crucial role in deciding which route to recovery is best. Being a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist has provided me a dynamic application to my Orthopedic Clinical Specialist designation as a therapist. Athletes have a much more intuitive focus for how they want to train their bodies but everyone from stay at home parent, to desk worker, to electrician all require strength in different ways to perform their job. I take exceptional pride in being a movement specialist that can analyze the demands of each individual job or sport to help that patient get back to doing what they need to do!
What makes Performance Physiotherapy different?
PERSONALIZED PLAN
You aren’t the same as anyone else and neither is your plan to get better. Each patient is given a clear plan of care with checkpoints on the first visit.
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE
100% of your time is spent with a Orthopedic Clinical Specialist with an extensive background in strengthening and performance sports.
Less is More
You want to be back to 100% in the least amount of time possible. We get that. Using a ‘team’ approach to recovery minimizes the time spent with the therapist to only what is needed while empowering the patient to with the tools to improve independently throughout their plan of care.
